Return to Huffman Prairie (April 26, 2021)
Got out on a beautiful Monday and got a few miles in for a ride. I went to Fairborn and then for a return ride to Huffman Prairie Flying Field. It was here back in 1904-1905 that the Wright Brothers perfected their airplane design with the Wright Flyer III. That plane can also be seen in Dayton, Ohio. This field of some 100 acres is considered the world's first airport. Behind my motorcycle is replicas of the hangar they built and the catapult they launched their aircraft with as the winds were not as constant and strong here in Ohio. From the site I was able to watch C-17's flying from Wright Patterson Air Force Base which maintains the flying field. I have posted more photos on my Ohio and Me blog page for those who are interested in seeing more of this historic site.
