Around the Dayton Airport (August 29, 2021)

Wife is out with some friends, so I got my two-wheeled friend and got a ride in on this very warm Sunday. Beautiful day to ride, though rain chances were 60% not a drop fell. Got out to Vandalia which is where the Dayton Airport is. Got a couple of photos while out in the area and really enjoyed the ride. Lots of construction going on there, some massive buildings.

Coming back took this photo by the Taylorsville Dam, which was built (according to a sign there) in 1922. Ride was a lot of fun though very hot and humid. Covered some 45 miles on this very fine day.

Pre-heat Ride (August 27, 2021)

Nice ride before the heat builds here in the Ohio Valley. Expected to feel like 100 today, but nice in the morning. Rode out for a while and saw the new display for the artillery piece at the VFW. Stopped by George Rogers Clark Park, where I got the photo of the monument. One side has General Clark, the other is to Tecumseh which is pretty cool. Last photo is of a hawk. Stopped to get that photo. They are tough to get photos of, kind of shy but finally got one and pleased to see it.

Was a good ride and nice to get out after the West Virginia trip in the car of the past few days. Looking forward to the next journey on two wheels.

Return to Huffman Prairie (August 23, 2021)

After viewing a Great Blue Heron on my morning walk (photos on Ohio and Me Blog Page) got out on the motorcycle this beautiful Monday. Went to Huffman Prairie which is known as the First Airport. Here the Wright Brothers flew the Wright Flyer II and III. The Wright Flyer III is considered the world's first practical airplane and is on display in Dayton.

While there in the early morning, has been my experience that deer are also about, and today was no exception. It was a beautiful ride in the early morning, and I enjoyed it a great deal as always!

Saturday Motorcycle Ride to the Beer (August 21, 2021)

Got out on this fine Saturday morning, and got a ride in which covered some 31 miles in an hour. Took the photo at left on the way to Fairborn and then the photo below of a plane on the air force base from across the road. I was heading to Enon, Ohio. Was told they would get in some Devil's Backbone Vienna Lager beer for me at a previous visit and I went to see. Surprise, they did, and there it was. So....rode a bit more around the area (beautiful morning for a ride) and then went back later in the car and picked up 12. When I lived in Virginia this was a favorite of mine, and a real treat to get this today. So this was a ride with a purpose (not that they all are not!)

Out in the Backstreets (August 18, 2021)

First time in a few days, due to a trip to Rising Sun, and the weather of the past few days. Got out to the Miami County Fair yesterday (and had a great time) with my wife but in the car. Rained some.

Rain was expected today but got out this morning before the storms rolled in. Got this photo of this abandoned farm, thought the road photo in the rear view mirror was also pretty cool. It was a nice ride of around 35 miles and one hour but not too far from home. Did not trust the skies. It was great to get out though and really enjoyed getting out in the wind again.

Monday Enon Ride (August 9, 2021)

Got out before the expected rains come, and looks like we might have some for a few days. Still, nice to get out once again. Had a few stops to make along the way (three in fact) but got out to Enon. The Indian mound is the second largest in Ohio there. Have information on that below.

I also got out to Fairborn (which is the bottom photo below) and into New Carlisle for a while. Got everything done I needed to, and enjoyed a nice ride while doing it. Even got to roll down some country roads before heading back to the house. All in all, a wonderful ride

Saturday Through the Tunnel (October 7, 2021)

A quick one this Saturday, stopped during the ride to get this photo of the tunnel...smaller than I am used to, but am a fan of them. There was one like this in Richmond, Virginia that I used to like to go through. Weather started to look a little iffy after a nice start early, but rain did not fall on me this day during the ride.

Got in around 35 miles during a ride that lasted a bit over an hour. Stopped for fuel along the way, currently regular is priced at $3.15. Not bad, and enjoyed being out in the cool of the morning. Already getting a little humid out there though, as summer makes its return. Still a ride in the upper 60's was damn nice.

Country Roads (August 6, 2021)

Another cool morning, but today will end the fall like temperatures we have had the past few days. Shame, as I have really enjoyed it. Going to be warmer with high humidity. The ride today though was really nice. It was around 70 when I rode out and while starting to get sticky not quite bad yet.

Got out and rode down 571 again. This time at the road detour went right instead of left (that park I found last ride was really nice!). Went by some really nice farms (there are a lot of those here, hence the photo at left. Got home after an hour and some 40 miles. Photo at bottom was at my house. Flowers beyond the bike are from my work.

Ride to Charleston Falls Park (August 4, 2021)

Pretty neat ride, was another cool fall like morning (60s as I headed out). Destination was actually Troy but due to roadwork detour, headed in a different direction.

Stopped by this helicopter at the VFW on Ross Road and then was heading back toward home. While there came by the Charleston Falls Park. Beautiful place, after a good walk down some long trails (and a wonderful morning for it) got to The Falls. Not very big water wise but we have not had a lot of rain for the past few days.

Putting some more photos on my Ohio and Me  page. Really enjoyed this ride and thanks for visiting my page.

Fall Ride in the Summer (August 2, 2021)

Beautiful ride today. It was blue skies and upper 60's. Fall is my favorite riding time of the year, and while it is still Summer (and will be warm again in a few days) this was a nice reminder of rides to come. Rode out to Carriage Hill Farm where I got the photo of the farm at left and the horses below. A favorite place to visit. Got in some 40 miles. Rode backroads and to Miller Lane where I saw the new City BBQ. Love the one in Beavercreek, will have to check this one out. Got out to Vandalia before heading back to the house pretty much the way I came. Excellent ride and really enjoyed it a great deal. Looking forward to the next one.

Last Ride of 2023 (October 27, 2023)

End of the ride here at home, sights below are during the ride. cCme across the Harley and the sidecar at the gas station. Talked with owner...
