Around the Area Ride (June 28, 2022)

Beautiful Tuesday morning ride, out around 8am, and the temperature was a fantastic 55 degrees when I got going. Just rode a short 21 mile ride around the area. Went to one of my favorite places in the area, Carriage Hill Farm, and around some backroads.

Took the lower photo below in Medway, Ohio. Love the quiet streets this time of day, and then took a quick ride around one of the lakes in my neighborhood before heading back in. Saw a beaver out, as well as a groundhog during my ride, and of course a number of rabbits.

Ride to Enon, Ohio (June 24, 2022)

Yesterday's ride was fun as was today's as well. This time rode out via more country roads to Enon. There got the photo at left of the Indian Mound there (second largest in Ohio so the sign said) and the old cabin there also. Rode out to Fairborn and checked out the aircraft there waiting to fly (including some visiting apparently)

Just before getting home, saw the old Enfield (an old British bike now owned by and made in India) and another bike (unknown type) with the sidecar.

It was another beautiful day to ride, and enjoyed it a great deal. Got three complements on the Triumph and talked with a former rider for a long time. I like that, the old Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 never really got any during the 10 years I owned it.

Carriage Hill Park Ride (June 23, 2022)

Got out in the much cooler temperatures (just under 60 degrees) and rode around the area, including Carriage Hill Park. It is one of my favorite places and a nice country ride to get there. Rode some other places as well, but was a good morning to get out and about.

Neighbor had her sister visit and was on her 2011 Harley Davidson (not sure what model) and snapped the photo of that bike and mine as I headed out (below).

Great time on a beautiful day to ride (but then again they all are!)

A Quick One (June 22, 2022)

A very hot ride on a very warm (like 100+ heat index) day. Had a place to go to real quick, but damn it was toasty. When its hot like this, even the wind does not cool you, in fact as I have said before it is like riding into a furnace. Nice and all that (riding always is) for the joy of it, but next time I think I will pick early morning, or later in the evening.

So, todays ride covered a total of some 9 miles.

Father's Day Ride (June 19, 2022)

Got out for the second day in a row on the motorcycle. This morning it was 48 degrees, so bundled up a bit. Cool yes, but fantastic after the weather of the last week (and in anticipation of the week to come).

Ride out in the country for a bit, looking for deer and rabbits along with any other animals which would cross my path. I did see a doe and fawn, and a couple of bunnies, but as I was rolling could not get a photo. Traffic was light to non existent a little after 7am, which always makes for some great riding.

I did go by the New Carlisle Airport and got this photo, which turned out to be the only one I took during the ride. I had a great time, and am looking forward to the next one in the very near future.

Yesterday while running around Dayton with my wife, talked with a fellow Triumph rider on a Daytona 675. I took some photos of that trip (which was on four wheels) and have those on my "Ohio and Me" page. Thank you for visiting my page(s).

Ah.....Cooler Ride (June 18, 2022)

Temperatures last few days featured a heat index of 100+, but cooler temperatures for this Saturday ride. Humidity also is back way down, so with 60-degree temperatures, got out on the Triumph and rode out to St. Paris, Ohio where I took the photo at left. While out also got the photo below on US 40. Very light traffic is also why I like those early morning rides. Took this bottom one a little after 8am. Only real traffic I saw was other motorcycles. It was a beautiful and wonderful ride!

Saturday Ride around Ohio (June 11, 2022)

Out for a ride in this overcast morning. We have had a lot of rain the past few weeks, and it rained last night. Mostly dried and looked ok to get out for a while. Had a few places to go to get ready for our next adventure which will be posted in a few days on my "Ohio and Me" blog.

Nice temperatures, which is good, because in the next few days expecting the first 90's of the year (with a heat index over 100) . Not looking forward to that, but summer heat happens.

While out came across a muskrat in the lake, and got a shot of the geese around the neighborhood. Saw a number of Blue Heron flying, but could not get photos of them, as I was....riding at the time. Still, enjoy the motorcycle cause you have such a commanding view of the area, around and above. Much better than the view you get in a car.

Also much better than a car, got $10 worth of gas. Cheaper riding the Triumph then driving the car. Don't enrich the oil companies as much with the motorcycle. Thank you for visiting!

Maintenance Ride (June 9, 2022)

Interesting side bar to yesterdays ride around Tipp City. Tipp City had tornados last night during the evening storms, and got some serious damage at a distribution center just outside of town. Looking at some other damage in other parts of town.

Did some motorcycle maintenance yesterday after the ride, and took the bike out for a basic test ride this morning, under slowly clearing skies. All seems good, did not go far or long as not real sure I trusted the weather. It has been a very rainy past few weeks. Coming up in the next few days are some very hot and humid days, but todays ride was in the 70's and very nice to get out.

Tipp City and Carriage Hill Farm (June 8, 2022)

Nice morning to get out after a couple of days of rain. Took the first four photos in Tipp City, Ohio. Nice ride out there down Highway 571, and not much traffic on that road. It is a nice country drive to get out there, and always enjoy that cruise. Lots of old buildings and interesting things to see. Some really great houses there, old wonders...though don't have any here, do have some on past posts from rides last year. Second time to visit the city this year. I take the car to the Honda dealer there for maintenance, and did that earlier this year. Always enjoy my visits to Tipp City.

Rode back but took a turn down Highway 201 and stopped into Carriage Hill Farm. Was cool to see the animals out, and those photos can be seen in the last three below, plus a photo of the inside of one of the buildings. The farm is an actual farm from the late 1800's. Always enjoy visits to it and I am a frequent visitor.

Nice to get out. Guess I am doing my part to increase oil company profits.

Farm Road Ride (June 5, 2022)

Beautiful Sunday and got out on the Triumph. Enjoying the sunshine and the cooler temperatures. Rode out in the country, to see some different sort of critters. Went by Young's Dairy to see the new building they built (its below the cows to the left) and even saw an old Indian Motorcycle. Nice to get out on this very fine day.

Did just under 40 miles and enjoyed every single one of them!

Top Gun Ride (June 3, 2022)

Saw Top Gun Maverick yesterday. Great movie and a real surprise. Did not know what to expect, though the previews looked great. In comparison to the original Top Gun it was at least as good, if not better. Think the story was better, and the action scenes were AMAZING. I am looking forward to seeing it again!

In that spirit took the Triumph out for a ride. Flags still out in New Carlisle and I took photo at left under the Navy flag. I also served in that branch under the flag.

Was a beautiful day for a ride. Temperatures are way down (and I like that) and the skies are clear blue (and I love that). Just a wonderful time to get my knees in the breeze again. Did not go far, but ran a few places to get some things done, and just visited with some curvy roads as well as some nature. This is a wonderful place to ride, and it was a beautiful day to do it.

Thank you for visiting my page!

First Airport Ride (June 1, 2022)

First day of June, and the first ride of the month. Headed out to Huffman Prairie which is the first airport in the USA. Here the Wright Brothers tested the Wright Flyer III which is considered the first practical airplane. In fact, that same plane is on display at the Carillon Historical Park in Dayton.

Nice day to ride, and always enjoy visiting this place. The items there are replicas, though not sure if the commuter station is, or is the real deal. There was a train which ran from their house in Dayton, to the airfield here which is just outside of Fairborn, Ohio. In fact it is actually on the grounds of Wright Patterson Air Force Base, but you dont have to go through a gate to get to it.

Nice early this morning for the ride, though a bit hot and will be close to 90 later today which is warmer than usual for this time of year. Did just under 35 miles and enjoyed the ride a great deal. Looking forward to my next adventure on the Triumph.

Last Ride of 2023 (October 27, 2023)

End of the ride here at home, sights below are during the ride. cCme across the Harley and the sidecar at the gas station. Talked with owner...
