Call me the Breeze (March 30, 2021)

Very fun ride today, was 70 degrees and very breezy but fun riding in those conditions. It was in other words, not that bad. Took the photo at left at Snyder Park in Springfield, as well as the two below. The fourth photo was at North Hampton, and the donkey was out in the boonies somewhere. It was a beautiful day to ride and I had a great time out on this wonderful day. I really enjoy the motorcycle out in Ohio, as this is a really fantastic place to explore.

Friday Ride after the Second Shot (March 26, 2021)

Yesterday got the second Covid-19 shot (from Pfizer) and zero issues with it as with the first. My wife also got her second shot, and it's the same with her. Should be pretty much good to go in 14 days.

Felt good, so got out on the motorcycle. Yesterday we got some serious rain and wind (60 mph gusts) so first thing I did this morning was check out the roof and surrounding area. Other than some small branches down, there were no issues.

There was some big power outages last night in the region but again none at our house. In the afternoon the roads dried and the sun sort of came out as the temperature rose into the mid50's. Got out and rode via the backroads to Deeds Park in Dayton, Ohio. Neat park as it has the fountains (which will be turned on in a couple of months) and also a lot of aviation related items (this being Dayton, which is pretty cool which is the Birthplace of Aviation). Photo at top, at left and the two immediately below are from the park.

Took a photo of the ballpark, home of the Dayton Dragons. Its a beautiful field and a popular place in the Spring, Summer and Fall. Hopefully will get to go to some games there this year. Took the photo of the church in Dayton, there are a lot of beautiful buildings in the city. While in Huber Heights stopped at Carriage Hill Park, which is another favorite place. The last three photos are from there.

Ride today was around 40 miles, not a big huge ride but saw some great sights and as always on the motorcycle it put a big smile on my face and a song in my heart.

US 40 to the Airport Ride (March 24, 2021)

Took the third ride in two days of riding (two rides happened on the same day a few hours apart) and now have added 110 miles in total to this years riding so far. Got on on this fine day and rode up US 40. There is a sign below which I saw along the road describing this historic route. It runs a long way across the country and have been on it in a few places and in a few states. Still, love riding it here.

Took the ride to the Dayton airport. Rolled past the terminal which was pretty empty. Air travel has still not really taken off here (parden the pun people) but starting to show signs of life. Probably one of the most interesting control towers I have ever seen. Took a stop later on at the Taylorsville Park Dam which was pretty cool. Walked over to see that and than later made a stop at the above mentioned sign. Wonderful weather on a beautiful day for a ride, with temperatures in the low 70's. Expecting some rain over the next couple of days, so got this one in before that happens. What can I say...it was a long winter and I sure missed getting out on this motorcycle.

Ok...Now its Officially Spring (March 22, 2021)

It was a big surprise, due to previous times at motorcycle shops, figured it would be in there longer, so made a visit to Rising Sun Indiana. On the day we got there last week, got a call that the motorcycle was done. Excellent 12,000 mile service and very pleased with the price, the quality of the work, and especially the time it was in there (course that was partly thanks to being there early in the riding season. I have said it before...if you need work on your motorcycle take it to Joe's Cycle in Dayton, Ohio, you won't be sorry.

Took the motorcycle straight home, and got a few things done around here before heading back out for a ride around the area. Just felt good to really get a ride in after the long cold winter. It was a fantastic time and really enjoyed getting my knees in the breeze once again.

Looking forward to some great rides and fun adventures here in Ohio over the next three seasons. Thanks as always for visiting my page.

12,000 Mile Maintenance (March 10, 2021)

A nice ride today, got out on the motorcycle for the third day in a row but this time to put the Triumph in the shop. Here in Ohio I take the motorcycle to Joe's Cycle Shop in Dayton. They USED to be a Triumph dealer, but still retain the knowledge (and even have a few Triumph's on hand if you are looking for one). Good people who have done some work for me before, and I am quite happy with their work.

The 12,000 mile maintenance is really important which includes the valve check/adjustment. Will be getting that plus some other items in the process. I think every so often its a good idea to have it looked over.

At any case will be there for "a while". During these Coronavirus days hard to tell how long things will take, and have found getting parts can be somewhat time consuming. Looking forward to being back on the road soon.

Out in the Country (March 9, 2021)

Thanks to a late change in plans, got to get in another ride today, as my wife needed to get out for a bit to get a few things done. I got the bike out (which was some 150 miles from the 12,000 in the service coming up) and cut that down by another 70 miles.

It was a good ride. Started out and headed for the country and did get out to some really impressive farms. I changed before the ride to a lighter jacket as it was a warm day, but very overcast and if I had to do that again would have worn the coat I did yesterday.

It was a good day to see things flying, saw a number of Hawks, Great Blue Herons and of course a number of Geese as well as other birds.

I took these photos at St. Paris which is a few miles up Highway 235 and North of New Carlisle. It was a very good ride and happened a few hours after a visit to the National Museum of the US Air Force which is one of my favorite places. Aviation and Motorcycles...a perfect day indeed!

Triumph Year 5, Day 1 (March 8, 2021)

Temperatures up in the low 60's, which is warmer than typical for this time of year, and took full advantage. Have been getting the motorcycle back up to speed (mainly getting the battery charged back up and adding fuel) but got out for a ride on this fine day. First time I have been on it since November 28 of last year, which I guess is pretty typical for living in Ohio. We had a winter of snow (heavier than last year) and some serious cold with lows close to zero.
Still, it sure felt wonderful to get out. I headed out toward New Carlisle, Ohio and from there up to Highway 571. Took that road into Tipp City and that is a favorite of mine. Interesting place and enjoy checking it out. Today though it was all about the ride. I did make a quick stop at the Waco Aircraft Company.

Waco Aircraft is a very historic place and one I really enjoy just outside of Troy, Ohio. I have a close up of the sign seen at left directly below. The company was in business for a number of years making some legendary aircraft. They also made gliders used in the D-Day invasion in WW2.

I have a couple more photos taken in Troy below the sign. I got in a little over 50 miles on my first ride of 2021. Actually planning to put the motorcycle in the shop in Dayton tomorrow. It is about time for the 12,000 mile service but want to get that going before the motorcycle riding and repair season really gets going. The wait in shops gets really long when the riding gets into full swing.

Looking forward to some great rides and fun adventures this year!

Last Ride of 2023 (October 27, 2023)

End of the ride here at home, sights below are during the ride. cCme across the Harley and the sidecar at the gas station. Talked with owner...
