Top Gun Ride (June 3, 2022)

Saw Top Gun Maverick yesterday. Great movie and a real surprise. Did not know what to expect, though the previews looked great. In comparison to the original Top Gun it was at least as good, if not better. Think the story was better, and the action scenes were AMAZING. I am looking forward to seeing it again!

In that spirit took the Triumph out for a ride. Flags still out in New Carlisle and I took photo at left under the Navy flag. I also served in that branch under the flag.

Was a beautiful day for a ride. Temperatures are way down (and I like that) and the skies are clear blue (and I love that). Just a wonderful time to get my knees in the breeze again. Did not go far, but ran a few places to get some things done, and just visited with some curvy roads as well as some nature. This is a wonderful place to ride, and it was a beautiful day to do it.

First Airport Ride (June 1, 2022)

First day of June, and the first ride of the month. Headed out to Huffman Prairie which is the first airport in the USA. Here the Wright Brothers tested the Wright Flyer III which is considered the first practical airplane. In fact, that same plane is on display at the Carillon Historical Park in Dayton.

Nice day to ride, and always enjoy visiting this place. The items there are replicas, though not sure if the commuter station is, or is the real deal. There was a train which ran from their house in Dayton, to the airfield here which is just outside of Fairborn, Ohio. In fact it is actually on the grounds of Wright Patterson Air Force Base, but you dont have to go through a gate to get to it.

Nice early this morning for the ride, though a bit hot and will be close to 90 later today which is warmer than usual for this time of year. Did just under 35 miles and enjoyed the ride a great deal. Looking forward to my next adventure on the Triumph.

Memorial Day Ride (May 30, 2022)

Rode this morning, to the Air Force Museum in Fairborn to pay a small tribute to those who paid the ultimate price in defense of our country. It is a debt that can never be repaid. All we can say is thank you, and hope that this country never forgets the sacrifice they made.

America stands tall thanks to those who died in defense of freedom.

May Ride around Town (May 21, 2022)

On a cloudy Saturday, got out for a while on the motorcycle after a short dose of coffee. Have not been since the Niagara Falls trip, which I have photos of on the Ohio and Me blog.

Great to get out, as it is not too hot (will be in the 90s later today...ugh) and the traffic early on is light. Got out in the country which is not far from where we live, a virtual stones throw. Nice to ride around this area and enjoyed this ride a great deal, as usual!

Christmas List Run (May 14, 2022)

Up on this beautiful Saturday morning, rode out to Vandalia after a quick pair of stops in New Carlisle to get a few things done before the upcoming trip. Ordered some Christmas ornaments at Hallmark with a list from the Wish Book we picked up a few days ago. I have to say without question, Christmas is my favorite time of the year.

Good day to get out, made a stop at the Taylorsville Dam, and got a quick shot of the airport while waiting for the store to open. A beautiful day is always made even better then part of it happens on the seat of a motorcycle!

Backroads Ride (May 11, 2022)

Just a short ride on this Wednesday to get out for a bit. Rode around the area for some 30 miles, took this photo at George Rogers Clark Park. Rode around US40,  Lower Hunters Pike and into Fairborn for a while. Did only the one stop (this one) as the rest of the time I kept moving. Nice day to get out and enjoyed it a great deal.

Going to do a light cleanup on the motorcycle today after it cools down a bit. Nice day to just enjoy the scenery and get out a bit into nature. Would be nice if the pollen was not so high, but you can't have it all it seems.

Bread Ride (May 10, 2022)

Had read about this in a local post, rode the motorcycle to Urbana Ohio this morning to see it. Was pretty cool, probably my first largest anything to see, and quite a loaf of bread (though probably not really bread).

Stopped at a few sights while there, a very popular restaurant but did not eat there, though did get a coffee and pie at the Airport Cafe at Grimes Field. Nice ride down Highway 36 up and back. Really a good sunny day and a fun ride. Finally into the 70's here, and 80's later today. Ride was a bit over 60 miles.

Cloudy Ride (August 21, 2026)

Took a ride under very cloudy skies after a very rainy Thursday.  Friday though was nice at 69 degrees though just rode around the nearby F...
