Perhaps...The Last "Summer Ride" (October 14, 2021)

Another day with temperatures in the 80's, been a rare treat. Not to say that I am not looking forward to cooler rides (I am) but was told today from the weather channel that "More fall like temperatures are coming in a few days"). There is also some rain on the way, so got out and got a few miles in this fine Thursday. Rode out to Yellow Springs. Love the cannon at this cemetery there, and stopped by Yellow Springs Brewing. Good beer, but not open till later (good, cause did not feel like a beer at 9am). I also rode out to Fairborn. They are having a big Halloween festival this weekend, but then there is that rain threat. At any case, nice country ride of around 40 miles on a beautiful and still warm October day.

Monster Ride (October 11, 2021)

Been enjoying these warm October days. Highs have been in the 80's (20 degrees warmer than normal for this time of year). Got out in the 60's this morning to get a ride in. Covered some 50 miles around Fairborn, Ohio but did stop for some photos of the local displays there and a cup of coffee too. Beautiful day and saw some cool things. Actually got away from town and covered some brand new roads. Easy for me to do, because I am still sort of a brand new resident of Ohio.

Cooler weather will come before too long, but for now, this is a nice addition to the riding season. Still a few more weeks before it comes time to put the motorcycle away for the season.

Motorcycles, Airplanes and a Beer (October 9, 2021)

Great Saturday morning ride (and the first time in a while) but felt great to be out. Rode out to Troy, Ohio and made a stop at Waco Aircraft (which did not open till noon) Got some photo around town, and went by the Honda dealer in Troy. Talked to a guy that owned the old BMW R-75. Cool classic motorcycle and a fun conversation.

Made a stop at Moller Brew Barn in Troy, which is across from the Courthouse (go figure) and in an old church. Had a (as in one) beer there. Its a favorite and tasty, but my first time at the actual brewery. Stopped by the New Carlisle Airport before going home. Enjoyed three of my favorite things during this ride!

Springfield Ride (September 26, 2021)

First ride in quite a few days, been out of town for a number of those (see my "Ohio and Me" blog for details on those adventures. Felt good to get out on this fine Sunday morning, enjoyed the sunshine and the cool temperature. In fact it was barely over 50 when I headed out. This is my favorite time of year to ride, and looking forward (hopefully) to some beautiful fall colors in the next few weeks.

Rode out to Snyder Park on my way to Springfield. Nice to see the old interesting buildings. Springfield is a very cool city, and enjoyed the sights there. Stopped at a very fine coffee shop for a bit and enjoyed the coffee there. Did get out in the country for a bit on the way back toward the house in what turned out to be a 40 mile, 2 hour ride.

Looking forward to some more fall rides and a lot more days just like this one!

30 on Thursday (September 9, 2021)

Nice short ride of some 30 miles on this beautiful Thursday morning. Wore the helmet with the face shield, jacket and gloves because the temperature was 60 degrees as I got out this morning. Beautiful weather though and as usual a wonderful ride on the Triumph.

I did make a short stop at this Nature Preserve, it is a Wetlands area and got a shot of the forest there below. Nice, had not been there before. I also made a stop in New Carlisle to take care of business for an upcoming adventure. That will be on my Ohio and Me blog page in a few days. Hope you all are having some great rides, thanks for visiting my page.

Trains and Coffee (September 7, 2021)

Beautiful day for a ride on this Sunny Tuesday. Got out and rode out to North Hampton. When I lived in Richmond, VA trains used to run right behind my house. It was really cool, and liked seeing those a lot. In fact, have a number of photos and even some videos on my "Ohio and Me" blog page from back then.

This is a cool little spot with the train car and the covered bridge. Sign talks about the history of it, though as noted in the other side it did not last. However, nice stop and a good ride on a fall like day. I am loving this weather.

Stopped for coffee in New Carlisle at Penny Lane. That is some damn fine coffee. Ride was around 30 miles, got some stops in also getting ready for an upcoming trip with my wife which I will be talking about soon. Just a wonderful day to get my knees in the breeze!

Carriage Hill and Twisty Roads Ride (September 2, 2021)

Got the coat on, beautiful cool fall like day and love riding on days like this. Was under 60 when I got out for a couple of hours. Rode out to Carriage Hill Park, which is also the site of an old farm (from the late 1800's). After visiting the farm and the animals, visited an old cemetery. That will also someday (hopefully not anytime soon) be my final resting place with my wife.

It was a very good day to get out, rode some 45 miles on this fine day, and grinned all along the way. By the way on this date in 2016 I purchased the Triumph at Scoot Richmond, in Richmond, VA which was where I was living at the time. It has taken me on many adventures, with many more to come.
