Beer and Aircraft Ride (September 5, 2020)

Got up Saturday morning to cool temperatures and low humidity. Nice time to get a ride in on this "Derby Day" (in the days of the virus its been moved from First Saturday in May to today in Louisville). I got out to scope out Mother Stewart's Brewing in Springfield, Ohio. Not open yet but good time to look over the grounds for a future visit. In the days of the Virus its good to be separate outside, and I think they have it down. It is in an old warehouse complex, third photo below is an old factory.

Rode into Springfield and wandered downtown for a short while. I like the big old building to the left, which also houses a museum. That museum though is closed for the time being, once again due to the virus. I do like Springfield which has a number of interesting buildings and sights to see.

Had never been to the Springfield Airport and being somewhat of an aviation fan (which is evident to visitors to this site) I went to check it out for the first time. Not a lot of activity there at the airport which is also a National Guard site. No military planes were on view but did get to see some cool planes in the photos below. Big runways which was very neat. Not a lot of history on the airport but was a nice visit and a nice country ride outside of Springfield to get to it.

Rode back in and home with a total ride today of some 40 miles. Nice to get out and love the route I take to Springfield from home. I travel down Lower Valley Pike which is one of my favorite roads in the area. Nice day to get out and to get my knees in the breeze.
