Springfield Ride (September 26, 2021)

First ride in quite a few days, been out of town for a number of those (see my "Ohio and Me" blog for details on those adventures. Felt good to get out on this fine Sunday morning, enjoyed the sunshine and the cool temperature. In fact it was barely over 50 when I headed out. This is my favorite time of year to ride, and looking forward (hopefully) to some beautiful fall colors in the next few weeks.

Rode out to Snyder Park on my way to Springfield. Nice to see the old interesting buildings. Springfield is a very cool city, and enjoyed the sights there. Stopped at a very fine coffee shop for a bit and enjoyed the coffee there. Did get out in the country for a bit on the way back toward the house in what turned out to be a 40 mile, 2 hour ride.

Looking forward to some more fall rides and a lot more days just like this one!

30 on Thursday (September 9, 2021)

Nice short ride of some 30 miles on this beautiful Thursday morning. Wore the helmet with the face shield, jacket and gloves because the temperature was 60 degrees as I got out this morning. Beautiful weather though and as usual a wonderful ride on the Triumph.

I did make a short stop at this Nature Preserve, it is a Wetlands area and got a shot of the forest there below. Nice, had not been there before. I also made a stop in New Carlisle to take care of business for an upcoming adventure. That will be on my Ohio and Me blog page in a few days. Hope you all are having some great rides, thanks for visiting my page.

Trains and Coffee (September 7, 2021)

Beautiful day for a ride on this Sunny Tuesday. Got out and rode out to North Hampton. When I lived in Richmond, VA trains used to run right behind my house. It was really cool, and liked seeing those a lot. In fact, have a number of photos and even some videos on my "Ohio and Me" blog page from back then.

This is a cool little spot with the train car and the covered bridge. Sign talks about the history of it, though as noted in the other side it did not last. However, nice stop and a good ride on a fall like day. I am loving this weather.

Stopped for coffee in New Carlisle at Penny Lane. That is some damn fine coffee. Ride was around 30 miles, got some stops in also getting ready for an upcoming trip with my wife which I will be talking about soon. Just a wonderful day to get my knees in the breeze!

Carriage Hill and Twisty Roads Ride (September 2, 2021)

Got the coat on, beautiful cool fall like day and love riding on days like this. Was under 60 when I got out for a couple of hours. Rode out to Carriage Hill Park, which is also the site of an old farm (from the late 1800's). After visiting the farm and the animals, visited an old cemetery. That will also someday (hopefully not anytime soon) be my final resting place with my wife.

It was a very good day to get out, rode some 45 miles on this fine day, and grinned all along the way. By the way on this date in 2016 I purchased the Triumph at Scoot Richmond, in Richmond, VA which was where I was living at the time. It has taken me on many adventures, with many more to come.

Around the Dayton Airport (August 29, 2021)

Wife is out with some friends, so I got my two-wheeled friend and got a ride in on this very warm Sunday. Beautiful day to ride, though rain chances were 60% not a drop fell. Got out to Vandalia which is where the Dayton Airport is. Got a couple of photos while out in the area and really enjoyed the ride. Lots of construction going on there, some massive buildings.

Coming back took this photo by the Taylorsville Dam, which was built (according to a sign there) in 1922. Ride was a lot of fun though very hot and humid. Covered some 45 miles on this very fine day.

Pre-heat Ride (August 27, 2021)

Nice ride before the heat builds here in the Ohio Valley. Expected to feel like 100 today, but nice in the morning. Rode out for a while and saw the new display for the artillery piece at the VFW. Stopped by George Rogers Clark Park, where I got the photo of the monument. One side has General Clark, the other is to Tecumseh which is pretty cool. Last photo is of a hawk. Stopped to get that photo. They are tough to get photos of, kind of shy but finally got one and pleased to see it.

Was a good ride and nice to get out after the West Virginia trip in the car of the past few days. Looking forward to the next journey on two wheels.

Return to Huffman Prairie (August 23, 2021)

After viewing a Great Blue Heron on my morning walk (photos on Ohio and Me Blog Page) got out on the motorcycle this beautiful Monday. Went to Huffman Prairie which is known as the First Airport. Here the Wright Brothers flew the Wright Flyer II and III. The Wright Flyer III is considered the world's first practical airplane and is on display in Dayton.

While there in the early morning, has been my experience that deer are also about, and today was no exception. It was a beautiful ride in the early morning, and I enjoyed it a great deal as always!

Cloudy Ride (August 21, 2026)
