Prestorm Ride (May 5, 2022)

 

Was a chilly Thursday morning, and the skies looked like rain any minute, but the best day of the next few ahead with storms forecast. Got bundled up a bit and got the motorcycle out for a short while and a short distance of some 30 miles but in the vicinity of the house. Radar looked ok, but some showers were nearby. 

Rolled down some country roads both straight and very curvy. Got out among the farms, and even took a short ride through New Carlisle before heading back to the house. Yes, the rains did come a little later but after the ride. Forecast looking better for next week.    

Finally!!!!! (May 1-2, 2022)

At long last! Been a cold wet Spring here, and much later than usual finally got in the first rides of 2022. Had done some chain adjustment in the previous post, but then ran into periods of very cold weather as well as some April snow of all things! As for rain it happened and virtually without pause. So if it was not wet and freezing, it was snow white covered roads and ground. Even the trees were not waking up. 

Now the birds are having babies (even have another Robin nest on my porch this year, and that is cool!) geese are hatching their young and the sun in out along with much warmer temperatures. Rode on May 1 which is where I took the three photos to left and the two below.

On May 2, got out again and took the bottom two photos in Xenia, Ohio. Got in a total of 60 miles for the first two rides, and smiled each and every one of them. The most fun I have outside with clothes on!      

 

First Day of Spring Preflight (March 20, 2022)

Beautiful first day of Spring, and seemed like a good day to get some of the work done on the Triumph in order to get ready for the first rides of Spring. Not quite done, forecast does not look good for the next few days, with a lot of rain coming up during the week ahead. Still got the chain adjusted, cleaned and lubed, looked over some other things. Brakes look good (replaced the rear last year, front still ok). Oil level fine and its all tight.  

Get the battery off the tender soon, air up the tires and get my knees in the breeze. The 2020 riding season is just around the corner!
 

Piqua Horse Parade (November 13 ,2021)

Last Saturday night, November 13 went to the Piqua Horse Parade with Debbie. First time to go to one of these, and really was a fun event. Sort of the first Christmas event of 2021 (though did make a trip to Rising Sun Indiana to see the Christmas Casino a few days ago. 

It was a lot of fun with the horses, carriages and teams of riders all decked out in Christmas lights. Had a huge crowd there, but everyone was nice and it was a fun time. Looking forward to seeing another one of these this year, maybe in the very near future.    

 

Last Ride 2021 (November 10, 2021)

Weather is turning much colder, with even a chance of snow in the forecast over the next few days. Planning to take the battery out of the motorcycle, add fuel stabilizer to the fuel, and put it away for the year. Have been on some fantastic adventures and some great rides. All good things (at least in the Midwest) must rest for a while. Looking forward to some great rides this Spring. 

For a final ride I first rode down 571 and stopped for a beer. Have not been there all year and the beer was mighty tasty. After that rode out to Carriage Hill Park and visited with the horses for a while. Nice out there and fun riding on the backroads. 

Last photo was when I got it home. Started out with just over 12,000 miles and got that major service done. As the time went by put some 2000 miles on the motorcycle. Will add to the total in 2022.      

 

Short Ride to New Carlisle (November 5, 2021)

 With temperatures in the 40's took a short ride to New Carlisle this Friday, plus to put a little power in the battery and to rotate the tires for a little while on this fine day. 

Made a stop at the bank, and got some fuel in the bike. Most importantly got a few miles out on the road on this cloudless day and my knees in the breeze.

Beautiful if chilly day to ride. Put on some extra clothes and my heaviest jacket. Nice getting out and as I read today that there was snow in the mountains of North Carolina today (one of my favorite areas to ride back in the day) I can tell the riding season here is soon coming to an end. 

Still I have a few more miles in mind before I get the battery out in a few days. Some warmer temperatures are expected in this early November, and still some miles to go before the Triumph takes its winter nap.  

Halloween Ride (October 31, 2021

On Halloween, took a short ride (15 miles) to the airport in New Carlisle where some airplanes were doing some touch and go flights. Rode around the town for a few minutes and then around the lakes near the house. It was a nice day with some scattered clouds and temperatures in the 50's. Saw some good fall color while out. Was a good ride out on this day.
