Piqua Horse Parade (November 13 ,2021)

Last Saturday night, November 13 went to the Piqua Horse Parade with Debbie. First time to go to one of these, and really was a fun event. Sort of the first Christmas event of 2021 (though did make a trip to Rising Sun Indiana to see the Christmas Casino a few days ago.

It was a lot of fun with the horses, carriages and teams of riders all decked out in Christmas lights. Had a huge crowd there, but everyone was nice and it was a fun time. Looking forward to seeing another one of these this year, maybe in the very near future.

Last Ride 2021 (November 10, 2021)

Weather is turning much colder, with even a chance of snow in the forecast over the next few days. Planning to take the battery out of the motorcycle, add fuel stabilizer to the fuel, and put it away for the year. Have been on some fantastic adventures and some great rides. All good things (at least in the Midwest) must rest for a while. Looking forward to some great rides this Spring.

For a final ride I first rode down 571 and stopped for a beer. Have not been there all year and the beer was mighty tasty. After that rode out to Carriage Hill Park and visited with the horses for a while. Nice out there and fun riding on the backroads.

Last photo was when I got it home. Started out with just over 12,000 miles and got that major service done. As the time went by put some 2000 miles on the motorcycle. Will add to the total in 2022.

Short Ride to New Carlisle (November 5, 2021)

With temperatures in the 40's took a short ride to New Carlisle this Friday, plus to put a little power in the battery and to rotate the tires for a little while on this fine day.

Made a stop at the bank, and got some fuel in the bike. Most importantly got a few miles out on the road on this cloudless day and my knees in the breeze.

Beautiful if chilly day to ride. Put on some extra clothes and my heaviest jacket. Nice getting out and as I read today that there was snow in the mountains of North Carolina today (one of my favorite areas to ride back in the day) I can tell the riding season here is soon coming to an end.

Still I have a few more miles in mind before I get the battery out in a few days. Some warmer temperatures are expected in this early November, and still some miles to go before the Triumph takes its winter nap.

Halloween Ride (October 31, 2021

On Halloween, took a short ride (15 miles) to the airport in New Carlisle where some airplanes were doing some touch and go flights. Rode around the town for a few minutes and then around the lakes near the house. It was a nice day with some scattered clouds and temperatures in the 50's. Saw some good fall color while out. Was a good ride out on this day.

Before the Rain (October 28, 2021)

Expecting rain the next few days, yesterday we had the first freeze of the year. Today though it was in the low 50's which gave me a chance to get out and put a charge in the motorcycle battery (and by riding, in me as well) plus to rotate the tires for a bit. Rode under threatening skies, at least the dark clouds are rolling in (as seen in the third photo below).

I rode out to Carriage Hill Park to say hello to the animals and to photograph the red tree directly below. It was a short ride down some country roads but it felt great and I was dressed for the weather. Nice to get out and see some of the trees changing. Did not see any motorcycles out but mine, but believe I heard a couple.

Getting real close to the end of the riding season in Ohio but I am hoping for a few more before I put it way for 2021. Been on some great adventures and thank you for visiting my page!

A Short Excursion on Two Wheels (October 20, 2021)

On this Wednesday, a short ride on a beautiful day. In the 60's and clear blue skies. The season to ride is rapidly winding down. Morning temperatures are in the 40's and day temperatures are rapidly winding down too. It is just a short time here till snow starts coming down - expect that in the next few weeks.

Rode out mainly to get some wind in my face, but also ran a couple of places to get a couple of things that I could carry on the motorcycle.

Looking forward to a few more rides like this before I put the motorcycle up for 2021. Its been a really great year with the Triumph. I did get to see finally the first hints of fall color as can be seen in the tree ahead. Leaves have been falling without much change, hoping the cooler temperatures bring more color out. For riding and for the beauty of the season, Fall is hard to beat.

A Quick One ( October 18, 2021)

Temperature got up into the low 70s today and I got the Triumph out for a quick "tire rotation" on this beautiful day. It was a wonderful day to get out and feel the wind on my face, and the power at my wrist.

Got out in the country for what was a short late day ride, but did ride past a few farms on the backroads which is where I saw the donkey and cows having dinner. Still waiting and hoping for some fall color here, but with morning temperatures in the 40s they are saying that is soon to happen. Seeing a few sights of that now. Got a few more rides to go before the cold has me put the motorcycle up for the season. Thanks for visiting my page.

Perhaps...The Last "Summer Ride" (October 14, 2021)

Another day with temperatures in the 80's, been a rare treat. Not to say that I am not looking forward to cooler rides (I am) but was told today from the weather channel that "More fall like temperatures are coming in a few days"). There is also some rain on the way, so got out and got a few miles in this fine Thursday. Rode out to Yellow Springs. Love the cannon at this cemetery there, and stopped by Yellow Springs Brewing. Good beer, but not open till later (good, cause did not feel like a beer at 9am). I also rode out to Fairborn. They are having a big Halloween festival this weekend, but then there is that rain threat. At any case, nice country ride of around 40 miles on a beautiful and still warm October day.

Monster Ride (October 11, 2021)

Been enjoying these warm October days. Highs have been in the 80's (20 degrees warmer than normal for this time of year). Got out in the 60's this morning to get a ride in. Covered some 50 miles around Fairborn, Ohio but did stop for some photos of the local displays there and a cup of coffee too. Beautiful day and saw some cool things. Actually got away from town and covered some brand new roads. Easy for me to do, because I am still sort of a brand new resident of Ohio.

Cooler weather will come before too long, but for now, this is a nice addition to the riding season. Still a few more weeks before it comes time to put the motorcycle away for the season.

Motorcycles, Airplanes and a Beer (October 9, 2021)

Great Saturday morning ride (and the first time in a while) but felt great to be out. Rode out to Troy, Ohio and made a stop at Waco Aircraft (which did not open till noon) Got some photo around town, and went by the Honda dealer in Troy. Talked to a guy that owned the old BMW R-75. Cool classic motorcycle and a fun conversation.

Made a stop at Moller Brew Barn in Troy, which is across from the Courthouse (go figure) and in an old church. Had a (as in one) beer there. Its a favorite and tasty, but my first time at the actual brewery. Stopped by the New Carlisle Airport before going home. Enjoyed three of my favorite things during this ride!

Springfield Ride (September 26, 2021)

First ride in quite a few days, been out of town for a number of those (see my "Ohio and Me" blog for details on those adventures. Felt good to get out on this fine Sunday morning, enjoyed the sunshine and the cool temperature. In fact it was barely over 50 when I headed out. This is my favorite time of year to ride, and looking forward (hopefully) to some beautiful fall colors in the next few weeks.

Rode out to Snyder Park on my way to Springfield. Nice to see the old interesting buildings. Springfield is a very cool city, and enjoyed the sights there. Stopped at a very fine coffee shop for a bit and enjoyed the coffee there. Did get out in the country for a bit on the way back toward the house in what turned out to be a 40 mile, 2 hour ride.

Looking forward to some more fall rides and a lot more days just like this one!

30 on Thursday (September 9, 2021)

Nice short ride of some 30 miles on this beautiful Thursday morning. Wore the helmet with the face shield, jacket and gloves because the temperature was 60 degrees as I got out this morning. Beautiful weather though and as usual a wonderful ride on the Triumph.

I did make a short stop at this Nature Preserve, it is a Wetlands area and got a shot of the forest there below. Nice, had not been there before. I also made a stop in New Carlisle to take care of business for an upcoming adventure. That will be on my Ohio and Me blog page in a few days. Hope you all are having some great rides, thanks for visiting my page.

Trains and Coffee (September 7, 2021)

Beautiful day for a ride on this Sunny Tuesday. Got out and rode out to North Hampton. When I lived in Richmond, VA trains used to run right behind my house. It was really cool, and liked seeing those a lot. In fact, have a number of photos and even some videos on my "Ohio and Me" blog page from back then.

This is a cool little spot with the train car and the covered bridge. Sign talks about the history of it, though as noted in the other side it did not last. However, nice stop and a good ride on a fall like day. I am loving this weather.

Stopped for coffee in New Carlisle at Penny Lane. That is some damn fine coffee. Ride was around 30 miles, got some stops in also getting ready for an upcoming trip with my wife which I will be talking about soon. Just a wonderful day to get my knees in the breeze!

Last Ride 2024 (November 17, 2024)

Was a fantastic year of riding, with a number of great places and fun adventures. Got out on Sunday, ran a few errands, and got in a few mil...
