Late November Ride (November 28, 2020)

November is winding down and December is just a couple of days away. Expecting snow in the next couple of days, and I can feel the motorcycle riding season in Ohio is slipping away. Rode today with the temperature in the 40's. I was surprised to see a number of motorcycles though out today, I passed somewhat over 10 which considering the temperature was very surprising.  I got out andf saw the New Carlisle Christmas tree, and of course rode by the airport. Did a few miles out in the country, in fact about 40 miles on what was a very good day indeed. I was well bundled up but did feel the cold a bit even with all that.

Around the Air Force Base (November 20, 2020)

Nice break in the weather again, another warmer than usual day and took advantage of the day and got the motorcycle out for a late afternoon ride. Took a ride out to the National Museum of the United States Air Force, and checked out a few of the planes outside, and then rode into Fairborn for a short while to see some of the decorations for Christmas going up.

After that rode into Enon and finally down Lower Valley Road into Park Lane and finally  back to my house. Ride was a bit longer than usual of late, a total of 35 miles. Not sure if there will be many more rides like this in 2020. Certainly colder weather is starting to make its appearances and temperatures even in the 50's are going to get fewer and fewer.

Nonetheless, it was a great time out on the motorcycle on a beautiful day.

Brisk Ride (November 13, 2020)

This time last year, there was snow on the ground, saw that from Facebook memories. Today, no snow, but much cooler than the last time I rode the motorcycle. Then it was in the 70s just a few days ago, today...it was 54. Nice to get out, but certainly could really feel the difference. Was dressed for the ride which took me to Fairborn where I took the very bottom photo. Top photo and the one directly below were taken near (in the case of the top) and at home in the one just below that. Good ride though short at 25 miles today.

Carriage Hill Farm Ride (November 10, 2020)

Another remarkable day with sunshine and temperatures in the mid-70's, and once again I took full advantage of the weather and got out on the Speedmaster for a ride around the area. Took a 25 mile ride around some of my favorite local roads and then stopped at Carriage Hill Farm. The farm dates to the late 1800's and is much as it was left back then. I love to see the old buildings and the old farm equipment as well as the animals there. Carriage Hill Farm is a place I go to often and enjoy the peace to be found there. Sure has been a wonderful few days of riding here in Ohio.

Young's Dairy Ride (November 9, 2020)

Another out of the ordinary November day with beautiful sunshine and temperatures in the upper 70s which is some 20 degrees warmer than normal. Once again took full advantage. Rode out to Young's Dairy which is near Yellow Springs. Ride takes me down some fun country roads and the goats and cows are fun to see. Lots of people there and though I did not partake this trip, they have some great ice cream.I also enjoyed a bit more of the fall color. Leaves are rapidly falling but still some beauty to enjoy. Ride was very good and covered some 30 miles. It was a blast being out today.

Huffman Prairie Flying Field Ride (November 7, 2020)

Just a beautiful day to be out in early November, as well as remarkable with a temperature in the 70's. There were a lot of motorcycles out enjoying it and I was one of them. I rode out to Huffman Prairie Flying Field, which is a very interesting place. I took a photo of the historical plaque which is the fourth photo below. That explains what the site is below and to the left in the photos. Last photo was of some of those many motorcyclists I mentioned also out riding. The hangar in the photos and the tower to launch the Wright Flyer III seen in the two photos below are replicas, but pretty exact ones. I rode some 30 miles yesterday and enjoyed each and every one of them.

Halloween Ride (October 31, 2020)

Have not been out riding for a few days. We have had a large number of rainy days. I believe it was Tuesday or Wednesday that we set a rainfall record in the area for one day. Some serious inches of rain, and this morning the first real frost of the year. Scraped the car windows this morning before I headed out. This afternoon got a ride in around Fairborn, Ohio. Being Halloween wanted to ride past some of the decorations to be found there. It was quite remarkable. I also rode down US 40, aka "The National Road". Will be doing some more of that, but that post will be on my "Ohio and Me" blog. Today ride temperature was just over 50 degrees and just under 25 miles.

Sort of a late Summer Ride in the Fall (October 22, 2020)

Beautiful day after a three days of rain and temperatures in the low 80's. Took full advantage and got a ride into Fairborn at left and below. Headed out into Enon, and then to the Clark County Park for a look at the Fall Color. Finally a stop at the New Carlisle Airport where I saw a Piper Cub landing. Last three photos are of trees in my neighborhood. It was a beautiful ride on a very fine fall day. Probably will be the last one this warm for some time, but it was a beautiful thing!

Toy Run (October 18, 2020)

I posted this on my "Ohio and me" page with more photos. This was the Highway Hikers Toy Run on Sunday October 18, which brought some 1,503 bikes out on a rainy day to drop off gifts for the needy for Christmas 2020. I did not make this ride though have been on some in the past during my days in North Carolina. Always good to see a worthy cause such as these and such a great bunch of motorcyclists. Saw some interesting bikes and enjoyed seeing them all roll by.

Ridin with Biden (October 13, 2020)

Actually election day for me, got the ballets mailed out from the State of Ohio. Did NOT vote for the current President, nor did my wife. We went back to sanity after all this crazy crap of the last four years. Hoping things get back to reality after November 3.

Got out today to see some of the Fall color around the area. Went by a Farm and directly below saw this interesting sight. The airplanes were a real surprise, and one of them was a seaplane.

Rode country roads taking another 30 mile ride. Took a few photos in the George Rogers Clark Park which was very colorful. Nice to get out and see it all. Was a bit chilly, think the temperature was under 60. I could have used a pair of gloves, will be wearing those next time. Rode around to 201, through New Carlisle, and then back toward the house with the park detour.

Came back and finished cleaning the motorcycle with some polish. Washed it before I headed out, figure that to be the last wash for the motorcycle for 2020.

Tipp City Circle Ride (October 9, 2020)

A nice short ride on a warmer than normal (for October) Friday. Took this photo before I headed out and the one at the bottom at the New Carlisle Airport. In between though I rode down 70 and 75 to Tipp City. Like riding there as it is a good country ride with a very interesting and historic downdown. Rode back via 571 which is a great country road. That took me into New Carlisle and of course the bottom photo. It was a good time to get out and enjoyed exploring the area. Seeing a lot of fall color and enjoying that a great deal. Temperatures close to 80 was also a nice touch. In fact went out for another ride (but this one in the car with my wife, and those photos will be on my Ohio and Me page.

Last Ride 2024 (November 17, 2024)

Was a fantastic year of riding, with a number of great places and fun adventures. Got out on Sunday, ran a few errands, and got in a few mil...
