Riding Memorial Day (May 29, 2023)

Another beautiful day to ride. This Memorial Day got out and rolled through Huber Heights, visited the military monument I could not get to during the last ride due to a Farmers Market in the park on Saturday. As I was in the USN that is directly below. Today though is a day to remember those heroes who died in service to our country.

Rode out quite a while into Dayton. There the fountains while not running here, have been turned on as of today. I also took a few backroads and got back to Vandalia and then back home after a 50 mile adventure. Was a wonderful morning on the Triumph.

In Memory Ride (May 27, 2023)

Beautiful Saturday, have been enjoying some wonderful weather all this week. Got out on the Triumph and rode first to Eastwood lake. Actually wanted to go to a nearby Military memorial of all the service branches in a local park, but due to events there, went to the US Air Force Museum.

Just visited the outside where I saw a few of the planes on display. The replica building and the actual building to its right below are from WW2. The Air Force crews who flew in that war suffered very heavy losses. In fact, that was a war with an amazing loss of life. Sadly it was not the first or the last.

Did enjoy getting out to remember the fallen and felt good to think back on those who paid the ultimate price for the freedoms this nation enjoys. Looking forward to my next time on two wheels and hope you have a good Memorial Day. Thank you for visiting my pages.

"Christmas Ride" ..and Dayton Airport Visit (May 25, 2023)

Needed to stop by The Hallmark Store in Vandalia today to drop off my Christmas ornament wish list. While there, rode by the Dayton International Airport where I got a photo of the Triumph and this very cool control tower. Been to a few airports in my day, this one is certainly unique. Before that pulled over to get the photo of the Taylorsville Dam. Impressive dam, and a neat place with a lot of park around it.

At the Hallmark store at the bottom photo, they have some left over ornaments. There is a lot there, enjoy visiting that and a nearby brewery which does not open until later today.

Was a very good ride. Temperature was down from the 80's earlier this week. I actually posted about a previous ride a few days ago on my "Ohio and Me" page to Springfield, Ohio. That was more of a historical ride, visited some cool places in that very cool city.

Today though on the way back rode through Carriage Hill Park, and down some very fun roads. It was a great ride and a great time.

Thank you as always for visiting my pages.

Alpaca Ride ( May 18, 2023)

Interesting Motorcycle ride today. While out running an errand in the car, same across signs for an Alpaca Farm. Did not know it was there, but had to go check out what it was all about.

Got on the Triumph and rode not far from the house, and stopped to visit these very cool animals. They were very friendly. As they sold some food there, got some and fed a few. Very soft fir and just nice to hang out with them for awhile.

After the visit got a few miles in, but was grinning all the way today thinking about the time spent with them.

The Road less Traveled (May 17, 2023)

After a few days of rain, got out on the bike and enjoyed a beautiful ride on a fantastic day. Saw this Mustang while out, though like the ones better with wings, it is still pretty cool. Rode into New Carlisle to get a couple of things done (post office, bank and fuel for the Triumph) and then got out into the country.

Some of the roads were new for me which figures since I am sort of still new to the area. It was a very nice ride. Even made a stop on 571 at a favorite watering hole.

Carriage Hill Farm Ride (May 10, 2023)

For the second day in a row, got in a little (very) low level flying on the Triumph. Today headed out to see some different animals at Carriage Hill Farm in nearby Huber Heights, Ohio.

Heading out of the neighborhood, waited for a family of Canadian Geese to pass by. The small baby birds are really getting big and it is very cool to see them out and about as is common this time of year.

The farm dates to the 1830's and was an actual working farm. It is maintained and the buildings date to that period. Very cool to wander around and see them, as well as the old equipment which was used on farms of that period.

Course a huge bonus is the animals which were common to farms of that period. There were also pigs there (resting in the shade) and some chickens as well. Carriage Hill Farm is a treasure!

Afterwards got a few more miles on the bike, before heading home. It was a wonderful adventure.

Into the Breeze (May 9, 2023)

After the Memphis trip (see Ohio and Me for information on that adventure) and some rain got out on the Triumph for a ride on a beautiful day here. Had a few post trip places to go to get things done, and no better way to do it then on the bike.

Stopped in New Carlisle to take care of some business and then stopped real quick for a photo of these cows before heading into Enon to take care of some more business.

After that, paused for refreshment at Legend's in Enon before taking the long way home. It was a lot of fun as always being out on that bike!

Last Ride 2024 (November 17, 2024)
