Huffman Prairie and Wright Memorial (March 30, 2023)

Blue skies, a little chilly as it was 50 degrees as I got out but a nice ride. Rode out to Huffman Prairie Flying Field which was the first airport in the world. The Wright's tested new designs and they had a flight school there. The Wright Monument is a few miles up the road, was created to honor the Wright Brothers a few years after their historic flight at Kitty Hawk. The catapult at bottom is at Huffman Prairie, my Triumph can be seen behind it and in front of the field. More can be found on my Ohio and Me page.

Sunday "Post Race" Ride (March 26, 2023)

Got out on a beautiful Sunday, after a few days of some serious rain here over the past few days. Watched the first MotoGP race of the year on CNBC which was cool. It was in the 50's when I took the Triumph out. Took a backroads route to Troy, Ohio and then via backroads back to the New Carlisle Airport where I watched some planes flying (and one parked). It was a good almost 50 mile ride on a beautiful day. There were a few motorcycles out there as well.

Thursday Ride (May 16, 2023)

Been a few days, thanks to some brutal cold weather and even some snow over the past few days. Included in that is a boatload of rain. In fact, more ahead for the next few days but today was nice, and got into the 60's. Got geared up and got out.

It was not a long ride, the temperature rise took awhile but finally got up there. Basically rode around the area, Carriage Hill Farm at left, and George Rogers Clark Park below. I did get out and around on some back roads between the two and had a great time. Spring officially starts in like four days, but still a bit of winter here to get past. Thanks for visiting my page.

Ride to Snyder Park (March 6, 2023)

3rd ride of the early 2023 season, got out today and explored Snyder Park which is just outside of Springfield, Ohio. Interesting place and very quiet this morning which is one of my favorite times to ride. Visited the nearby cemetery and while there saw some of the interesting visitors who in fact wandered around on four legs. They seemed curious about me, and I did nothing to scare them off. There were four in total. As for the ride it was fantastic with light traffic and 70 degrees. Another good time on the motorcycle in Central Ohio.

Bike Bath Time (March 2, 2023)

Forecast for tomorrow looks pretty crappy with rain and high wind expected most of the day. So, got out on the Triumph for a short ride around the area. I washed it off and headed out a bit to blow the water off. Nice ride as I went by the VFW, didnt stop in, but hey got to see flags and a cannon.

I took the photo below at The Cycle Shack which is a local Harley-Davidson repair shop. They do a big business, as there are a lot of Harley-Davidson's around, and they break a lot too. That is the one big problem with them.

Took the bottom photo after the ride, came back and polished the aluminum and then put it away for the day. Was nice to get out though quite a bit cooler than yesterday. Got into the upper 70's yesterday, into the 50's today. Still, it was fun and it has been quite a few months since I last got to ride, to having these two days have been pretty fantastic. Back in the Saddle and Test Rides (March 1, 2023)

On the first day of meteorological Spring, got the motorcycle out. Did a lot of checking and of course put the battery back in. Was great to get out and got in one of the last rides as a revisit from last year. Rode out to Vandalia and the dam there, which is in the bottom two photos below. Made another stop at a very old cemetery in Dayton. They are just beautiful places which is nice considering why they are there.  It was a very nice ride and good to be back on the motorcycle again. I plan to do some cleaning this morning, and possibly get in another ride on Thursday, but will see how that goes.

Was in a Harley shop a few days ago. To be honest a problem here is that there are no Triumph dealers within 100 miles (the nearest is in Cincinnati) unlike Richmond where a very good one is right in town. It is where I purchased the Speedmaster.

Test rode a Harley-Davidson Softail and it was interesting. I dont really fit the bike being 6'2" and the seat height being like 27 inches. Felt really cramped and while there are things you can do (higher seats and extended controls) ads cost to what is already a "pricey" motorcycle. I think I will pass on this bike, and take a look at what Kawasaki and Honda have to offer. Had some great rides from those guys.

"Halloween" Ride (October 30,2024)

Due to a rainy and windy Halloween Day forecast, got out the day early on October 30, to take a last look at the decorations (of which only ...
