First 80 degree Ride this Year (April 27, 2021)

Nice short (70 minutes) ride out in the country. Saw these two cars not far from my house, and one of them for sale...so if you need a fine looking car from 1942...here you go.

As for me, beautiful day out. Sure enjoyed the temperature - first time for this year. Amazing especially considering that it was snowing a couple of weeks ago. Sure felt great and seemed I was not alone, as there were an awful lot of motorcycles out there along with me today.

It was fun to get out and get some riding in. Went past some farms. Usually later than I like to get out but was getting some things done earlier with my wife. Busses were running but it was late enough they soon dropped off the kids and got back where they park.

Photo below was taken at the lake in George Rogers Clark Park a few miles from my house.

Return to Huffman Prairie (April 26, 2021)

Got out on a beautiful Monday and got a few miles in for a ride. I went to Fairborn and then for a return ride to Huffman Prairie Flying Field. It was here back in 1904-1905 that the Wright Brothers perfected their airplane design with the Wright Flyer III. That plane can also be seen in Dayton, Ohio. This field of some 100 acres is considered the world's first airport. Behind my motorcycle is replicas of the hangar they built and the catapult they launched their aircraft with as the winds were not as constant and strong here in Ohio. From the site I was able to watch C-17's flying from Wright Patterson Air Force Base which maintains the flying field. I have posted more photos on my Ohio and Me blog page for those who are interested in seeing more of this historic site.

Before the Snow of all things (April 19, 2021)

Seems crazy but told this is Ohio weather - but expecting some snow Tuesday night into Wednesday. Just got back a couple of days ago from Myrtle Beach and havent ridden for a few days (in fact have some photos from that trip on my Ohio and Me blog page) but did get out today. Was just a bit over 50 but wanted to get a few miles in, as it might be a few days before I get out again.

Nice ride though, made a stop at the New Carlisle Airport. A couple of Ercoupes were getting ready to take off and did get to see them fly. A neatly designed airplane, they were noted for being easy to fly, and was cool to see them take to the air.

As for me, following this, did a 50 mile ride out in the country. Got a few good wiffs of that "country air" which is found around farms, especially those with cattle, but that is part of the experience. Least  while cows may smell like shit, our President is no longer Trump and Trump was full of shit. Things in America are at least looking up. Thank you for visiting my page!

Riding between the Storms (April 9, 2021)

Good day for a ride. Had a couple of places to go and no better vehicle to do it on. Flowers are blooming (and sort of a changing of the guard) and made stops in New Carlisle and Park Lane while out. I stopped for photos at the VFW to make note of the wind (which was brisk) and to get a photo of their new cannon. Breeze also drove that country air. Last ride I rode on Cow Path Road, today got a few "whiffs of cow"-but thats country riding. It was a wonderful cruise.

Cow Path Road Ride (April 7, 2021)

Second day in a row, but this time with temperatures rising to 80's, I got back out on the motorcycle. Beautiful day to ride and enjoyed just getting out in the breeze. It was just a remarkable day.

Photo at left was taken on Cow Path Road, which I thought was a cool name and well worth exploring. I got out into the country, which is not hard to do at all in this part of Ohio and went down this and a few roads like it.

The two photos directly below were also taken there. Many of the farms here are getting the land ready for planting. The weather has been remarkable and (so far at least) the rains that came pouring down last year to mess up the planting have not happened.

Final photo was taken shortly before I got home. The ride was a sea of white dogwood trees and was just beautiful but noticing in a lot of cases they are turning to green leaves. It is a joy to see them, and wanted to share a few with you.

Aviation Ride on a Tuesday in April (April 6, 2021)

Interesting ride today , got out on a beautiful day on the motorcycle to enjoy the weather. I am actually going to put a few photos on my "Ohio and Me" page as I saw some interesting things today during the ride.

It was not planned to be an "Aviation Ride' but that is where circumstances took me. Made this stop at the National Museum of the US Air Force where I got the photo of my motorcycle and the C-17 on display there. I also got a photo of the "replica"  English control tower from WW2 (they also have real buildings from the War on display) and of course the museum is a popular place for me to visit though did not tour it today.

Instead I went to the Fairfield Mall of all things, had read a few weeks ago about their aviation displays and they were really impressive. One from Waco (which I have been to in Troy, Ohio) and a replica Wright Model B (and a fine one at that) from Wright Model B. They actually have one that (for a fee) you can get a short flight in. That flight is on my bucket  list. At any case a very good ride, and as noted more photos on my Ohio and Me blog page.

Easter Sunday Ride (April 4, 2021)

Beautiful Easter morning, and got out for a short ride on this wonderful day here we remember the risen Lord Jesus. I went out through the country remembering that gift and visited with some of his creation. Stopped by Youngs Jersey Dairy to see some of the goats and cows. I also went on down Ohio 68 into Xenia, Yellow Springs and Fairborn before heading home. Nice day for a ride and there were quite a few motorcycles out. Traffic of the four wheeled kind was rather light though which was good. Very enjoyable cruise !

Last Ride 2024 (November 17, 2024)

Was a fantastic year of riding, with a number of great places and fun adventures. Got out on Sunday, ran a few errands, and got in a few mil...
